PAVIS and Semodia: Shaping the Future of Automation

PAVIS Engineering and Semodia are joining forces to set new standards in industrial automation. At the heart of this strategic partnership is the semantic description of modular plants, powered by the Module Type Package (MTP) standard.

A World First: rMTP in Action

As part of a major international project — the automation of one of the world’s largest production facilities for monoclonal antibodies — PAVIS is responsible for the overall automation concept. Semodia contributes its deep expertise in semantic system descriptions and MTP, and is in charge of all MTP-related tasks.

The project highlight: The entire plant is being specified using rMTP files. This pioneering approach makes the plant’s modular structure machine-readable, interoperable, and fully digitally defined — a global first in the process industry.

"Semantics, ontologies, and standardized interfaces like MTP are not ends in themselves. They enable real-world benefits: faster commissioning, more flexible maintenance, and digital scalability."
– Dr.-Ing. Stephan Hensel, CEO of Semodia

Driving Digitalization Across the Process Industry

This partnership is designed for long-term impact. PAVIS and Semodia aim to roll out this future-oriented methodology across a wide range of industries — from pharmaceuticals to chemicals to food & beverage. The goal: building a sustainable, digitally enabled automation landscape.
