FLOW2MTP - Automated project planning for the process industry

With FLOW2MTP, PAVIS, Semodia and COPA-DATA present an end-to-end solution that consistently digitizes and automates the path from classic process diagrams (P&I-D's, R&I's) to modular automation.

The idea
Traditionally, the project planning of a new or existing system requires a great deal of manual work. Hardware structures, function blocks and logical links have to be created manually step by step in the automation system.

Our joint approach drastically reduces this effort: a large part of the project planning work can be completed by automatically generating and importing MTP files (Module Type Package).

How FLOW2MTP works

  1. PAVIS offers an intuitive development environment for P&I-Ds. Customers can easily create and maintain their process schemas here. The relevant information is provided in a structured manner via a connected MTP-capable database.
  2. Semodia provides an interface that generates a standard-compliant rMTP file from the P&I-Ds and the database.
  3. With the zenon platform,COPA-DATA provides a powerful automation system that can read MTP files directly. Both the hardware structure and the logical links are automatically "pre-projected".

The added value

With this approach, project planning no longer has to be done completely "from scratch". Our goal:

  • >70% of the project planning work is already done when the MTP file is read in.
  • The automation engineer concentrates on the really important project-specific adaptations.
  • Standardization and reusability are strengthened - regardless of whether new or existing plants are involved.

Showcase: FLOW2MTP-beer

At the SPS in Nuremberg, we will be demonstrating the concept using our FLOW2MTP-beer app.

Using the Alpirsbacher brewery as an example, we will show how an existing plant can be modularized. MTP files are automatically generated for typical brewery modules - mashing, mash filtration, wort boiling, etc. - and then imported into Zenon.

The result: a practical example of how existing production systems can be converted step by step into a modular, future-proof architecture.

Conclusion

With FLOW2MTP, we are driving standardization and increased efficiency in the process industry.

Our common goal: faster project planning, fewer sources of error, more focus on the individual requirements of our customers.

We look forward to presenting this concept together with our partners Semodia and COPA-DATA at the SPS in Nuremberg and to entering into dialog with you.
